Robert Downey Jr. injured on 'Iron Man 3'


Robert Downey Jr. suffered a personal injury to his foot throughout the filming of Ironman 3, forcing a hang on production, the Associated Press reports.

Based on Marvel Studios, "There is a short delay being produced while [Downey] recuperates." The star hurt himself while conducting a stunt.

Currently shooting in New york, Iron Man 3 is placed to hit theaters next summer. The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley. Downey also appeared as Ironman in this summer's blockbuster The Avengers 2 , and it is highly-anticipated sequel received a release date of May 1st, 2015 today.

Inside a statement, Marvel Studios said, "Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury around the set of 'Iron Man 3' in Wilmington while conducting a stunt. There will be a brief delay in the production schedule as they recuperates."

The threequel is really a mystery, but rumor has it the plot will continue to center around a popular “Extremis” storyline in the comic books. In the six-issue series, Tony Stark is have contracted the Extremis virus, which turns him right into a super-soldier. His new special powers include accelerated healing, boosted defense mechanisms, upgraded organs and improved thinking processes.

Disney and Marvel have issued an argument that Robert Downey Jr., star from the "Iron Man" franchise, was injured while shooting director Shane Black's upcoming sequel. The actor "sustained an ankle injury" around the North Carolina set, and production are experiencing "a short delay" while he recuperates.
