X Factor Scot Melanie Masson Leaves Show After Public Vote

Melanie Masson has become the second contestant to depart The X Factor after missing out to Disctrict3 in the sing-off.

Singing for survival, the 44-year-old mum delivered a heartfelt rendition of Stick with Me Baby, a success for Bette Midler and Duffy, while District 3 sang Bryan Adam's hit (Everything I actually do) I Do It for you personally.

Mentor Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger dicated to keep Melanie Masson in the competition but Louis Walsh and Tulisa opted to help keep District3, which meant the vote visited deadlock for the second week running.

Gary, that has now lost a couple of his acts, said he was ‘gutted’, adding: "I'm so sad doing go so early. This competition never does not shock me. I figured she was the safest act a few days ago."

Melanie told show host Dermot O’Leary: “I’ve absolutely enjoyed each and every second of being here and also the opportunities it’s brought. It’s been amazing.”

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Ella Henderson brought the home down again this weekend with another pitch-perfect performance. Her form of Minnie Riperton's classic Lovin' You was met with rapturous applause on Saturday night. Read more X factor news....

Head judge Gary praised her to take on a difficult song, saying: “The F-sharp descending… you completely nailed it,” while Nicole, that has previously been gone to live in tears by the teen’s performance, described her talent as “timeless and classic.”

Ella remains among the favourites to win your competition as the 11 hopefuls still battle it out around the live stage next week.
