Future Music Festival is finally be here! To get us within the mood for the first weekend of musical action we've put together a mini live preview of Future 2012: the set lists, live footage and what to anticipate when the likes of recent Order, Die Antwoord and Aphex Twin make their long-awaited go back to our shores.
The Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne is much more readily frequented by jockeys, instead of disc-jockeys. In fact, perhaps except for two days every year, this is actually the absolute rule of thumb. For many of spring, the racecourse hosts horse-race after horse-race, and Melbourne’s wealthy drive towards the racecourse in their Range-Rovers and set up marquees where they sit and sip away a special afternoon whilst chomping on chicken sandwiches. And lose their spare change betting on horses with names like Black Caviar and Desert Gold.
Notwithstanding there are no Range-Rovers involved, the Future Music Festival has carved itself nicely in to the annual social calendar in the Flemington Racecourse, and for good reason. It's a slick operation always featuring stellar performances from a few of the biggest acts on the planet.
On the same side from the decks, we have the evergreen Dean Paps. Dean began his music journey in a young age, clocking up endless hours of experience by spinning just the best of vinyls. The spearhead behind a lot of the production that comes together with Orkestrated, has seen many young rising producers mimic his style.
Future Music Festival is of a strange one for me personally - every year I believe I'm way too old for that beefed up, denim shorts clad also, he and every year they get me having a mix of old and new acts that's hard to resist. This year's coup de mâitre for me personally was New Order, popular band that should 't be missed.
It's impressive how a promoters tailor the road up, with the younger dance crowd effective in keeping the excitement up following around a slew of dj's that kept them simply pumped all day. But then your older crowd can stick together and follow their well worn path around with a of most legendary acts ever.
he multiaward winning Future Music Festival 2012 well known not only for delivering the largest acts in the universe, but the brightest stars of tomorrow. First class acts that have graced their presence in past festivals range from the biggest names in music.
Friendly Fires began my day with Ed Macfarlane cavorting his way over the stage and then a foray in to the crowd. This was then The Rapture who I have seen in a more energetic state at other shows, but nonetheless managed to pump out their classic tunes.
